Part One: I think the most helpful part of this chapter was the actual examples of the reviews themselves. My personal favorite was the "Slum Visits: Tourism or Voyeurism?" by Eric Weiner. The writing and examples were best used throughout this piece of writing as well. You could clearly see where the writing was using the tools that were given earlier in the chapter. The opinion on the topic was not just stated: all views were considered and it was unbiased. "By blurring the line between reporting and reviewing, Weiner provides potential "slum tourists" with a sense of the issues involved in taking a tour of a favela or shantytown- and, in this respect, fulfills one of its key functions of a travel review by giving people information to make their own plans about what to see and do."

(Explaining Olympic vs Power)
This is a good review because it first gives you ALL the information anyone would need to know about barbells, then goes on to tell you what would work best for you and how to get it! This format would work much better for my review, because most people probably don't know much about lifting!
I also liked the "slum tours" article the best. I liked that it was not biased like you had stated and it was also informative. It was a good read. The review you picked on lifting was neat. Interesting topic you picked, I would have never thought about reviewing lifting. You are right, I knew nothing about lifting prior to this review.
