Exploration Four Tia

Music has the ability the bring people together but I believe it can also influence people. Modern music these days has lost its political soul it use to have. I believe music has the biggest influence on our youth. I rarely listen to newer music but when I do if it's Rap the artist is either talking about drugs, gang violence or sex and many children grow up idolizing these rap artists. One person who comes to mind who I believe has a negative impact on the music culture is Miley Cirus. She started her career as a role model for children on the Disney channel and grew up making music videos where she is barely dressed, singing about situations I feel aren't appropriate for children who idolized her.
I really enjoy music I can relate to. My favorite era of music would probably be the 60's, there was just so much going on in the world and music had the power to bring people together who wouldn't otherwise do so. A group that I enjoy listening to is Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR). One of my favorite songs is Have You Ever Seen the Rain. Most people believed the song was about the Vietnam War but John Forgerty actually wrote the song about his brother leaving their band in the height of their success. My favorite verse of the song is when he says " I want to know-have you ever seen the rain comin down on a sunny day?" I can relate to that because I have had things going so well for me at times and knew the time was coming for a change and not knowing where I would end up. I believe songs these days are missing real emotion and situations everyone can relate to.
