Hello my name is Nick fox, I am currently a freshman I live in Worthington, Ohio. Something interesting about me is that I can eat any spicy/hot food. My dad and I have always enjoyed eating hot food since I was young, we grow the hottest pepper in the world(scorpion ghost pepper) at my house. We make our own hot sauce and salsa when we have time from mild to extremely hot.
I like the lanyard a lot two phrases that really stood out to me were "and i gave her a lanyard" and "and taught me to walk and swim and i in turn presented her with a lanyard". I enjoyed theses phrases because it brings up the irony that his mother gave him the best gift possible, life and in turn he gave her a craft he made. This stuck out to me because it really shows how you can never repay your mother for the gift of life but your love is a small testament to your gratefulness. I enjoyed this poem because it uses humor to bring attention to a more serious and deep subject.
Hi Nicholas! I hate spicy food, so I admire your bravery. I noticed that we both liked "The Lanyard" for the same reason: it was presented with humor on a subject that COULD have been quite serious!
ReplyDeleteDude i cant eat spicy food at all, that is crazy that you eat that stuff that regularly! I respect that. I also agree with your perspective on the lanyard, the humor was what caught my attention.
ReplyDeleteHi Nicholas! My family is always eating spicy foods as well. I'm not sure if some people like it and some people don't just because of a personal preference or simply because they haven't become used to it yet. Anyways, I also liked the second line you chose, I liked how you said that it is a small testament to your gratefulness.
