This is due by Saturday, April 4 at 12 noon, as I want you to get to work on your topic, and this will help you make choices and focus your research and legwork.
All my best,

| Brainstorm 4 good ideas: 2 for each prompt option. |
| Brainstorm 4 good ideas: 2 for each prompt option. |
For prompt 1, my topics are:
ReplyDelete1) There is a huge open field in my neighborhood that people rarely go to that I have had a lot of great times at as a kid.
2) There is this beautiful garden behind a building that no one knows about that is great for pictures and relaxing.
For prompt 2, my topics are:
1) Should the drinking age be decreased or remain the same?
2) Do we live in a world that is too involved in technology?
I am leaning towards prompt 2 just because I don't really know of that great of a hidden gem place and I feel like prompt 2 has so many possibilities. I am going to choose my second topic of prompt 2. Do we live in a world that is too involved in technology? I am choosing this prompt because I have heard this question so much and I have heard great responses supporting both sides. I feel like this would be a great topic to write about and would have a lot of information on it. I have also wondered about whether I am too attached to technology so it would be a great argument to write about and to find out if it is necessary or just an obsession that a lot of people have. It is also affecting an even younger population, which I've heard can both be good and bad.
For Prompt 1:
ReplyDelete1.) Newport Music Hall
2.) Marcus Crosswoods Movie Theater
For Prompt 2:
1.) Violence in movies and video games vs. violent acts in reality
2.) How we as a society are spoiled with cutting edge and brand new technology
I am strongly thinking that I will go with prompt 2 because my hidden gems really are not that hidden. I also think that I will be able to get my ideas across more clearly with prompt two than prompt one. I think that I will go with the first topic on prompt 2, mainly because I find the whole "Violent movies causes violent behavior" argument irresponsible and straight up bothersome.
Prompt One Brainstorms:
ReplyDelete-Shale Hollow Preserve in Delaware. My mom is a distance runner and she loves this place for trail running! We also went there on a science field trip last semester and it was super interesting and scenic.
-Urban Krag Climbing in Dayton. This place is super cool: its an abandoned church that was turned into a rock climbing and bouldering facility. It's fully outfitted with 10 plus high/top ropes and a huge bouldering wall. They have many experienced climbers that set new routes every few weeks!
Prompt Two-
-Change in policy: Ohio Alcohol Purchasing/Consumption Age
This is something I feel strongly about because it's causing a whole bunch of problems and would seem to be an easy fix.
-Change in policy: Ohio gay marriage Laws
Another thing I feel strongly about: I would love for my cousin to be able to get married!
I would like to do the drinking ages because I have the most interest in that one and there is already a lot of ready information. With training I don't have much time to go out and take pictures, so being able to sit down and research/write will be much more expedient for me.
For Option 1 - Hidden Gems, I might write about:
ReplyDelete1. Shale Hollow Preserve off of 23 - it has so many beautiful places to see if you really give it a chance.
2. A small boutique shop in Delaware - not many people go to it because it is overseen, but it has some great finds if you really look.
For Option 2 - Issues That Impact, I might write about:
1. Driving age - it could be raised or lowered, depending on statistics.
2. Voting - it is important to vote if you are an American citizen. You have rights and responsibilities for your country.
My favorite idea is currently the subject of voting. I'm thinking about writing about this topic because I think it is extremely important for every citizen who is able to vote, to vote. Many people are uninterested in politics, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't vote. I think is it necessary for our country's future and freedom.
For Prompt 1, I have only lived in the Columbus area for about 2 years, so I don't know much about local business. I'm visiting family in Pennsylvania this weekend, where I lived for 10 years, and will have a chance to visit local businesses I loved there.
ReplyDelete1) Select Diner
2) Pizza N Stuff
For Prompt 2:
1) Gay Marriage Equality
2) Legalization of Marijuana
Right now I'm leaning more towards the Legalization of Marijuana because it is something that I've recently learned more about and am not in favor of.
Prompt One:
ReplyDelete1. Hidden waterfall/abandoned small stone house right down the street from my house.
2. The many hidden trails at Park of Roses.
Prompt Two:
1. The drinking age
2. The affects of organic foods vs food that contain preservatives
As of now I am leaning towards the affects of organic foods vs. foods that contain preservatives. I am interested in learning what are the best foods you should have in your diet and if the affects brought about organic foods are truly worth it.
Prompt One :
ReplyDelete1: Delaware County historical society
2:Historical Society of Ohio
Prompt two:
1: Legalization of medical marijuana
2: Driving age, should it be raised
Right now I am leaning towards prompt two: legalization of medical marijuana because I hear about this topic a lot these days and I know a lot of people who feel very strongly about this topic. I have not thought about where I stand on this topic and would like to do the research to come up with my own opinion on legalization of medical marijuana.
Prompt One:
ReplyDelete1. along the Scioto river there is a spot under the bridge where people fish
2. there is a old barber shop in old Dublin
Prompt Two:
1. Voting Age
2. Drinking Age
At this point I am leading toward essay prompt one. I like the originality. It is less broad. If I were to chooses now it would be the fishing spot. I would like to really see all that is down there. I may even be able to get some great pictures and interview some individuals down there. I also like to fish so that could be a reason.
Prompt 1:
ReplyDelete-Thaddeus Kosciuszko Park, off of hard road and riverside, it is a somewhat new park but hidden, the sign is even down right now. There is a large sinkhole there, a few ponds, and multiple nature trails you can walk on.
-Movie tavern in Hilliard, it is a restaurant and a movie at the same time, quite a cool experience
Prompt Two:
-Legalization of marijuana
- GMO in food
I want to do prompt one, it is a different way of writing, unique, and seems very interesting to me
Prompt 1:
ReplyDelete- an authentic Mexican food restaurant on henderson named Cucos that is highly underrated.
- A new park was just built in my neighborhood with new trails by the river no one knows about because, it was just built.
prompt 2:
- The continued failure of The War on Drugs.
- The militarization of the police force
I am in favor of prompt two as I like to spread awareness and news to people about information they may not know. I'm leaning towards the failure of the war on drugs because people that have credentials and voice opinion in our world have the war on drugs backwards and spread false information.
-J & L Music, a music store owned and run by a man and his wife. Why is this store important and how it benefits the local community.
ReplyDelete-A authentic Greek food place in Dublin (might be Hillard).
-Fracking, should it continue to be used as the primary way to extract natural gases.
-Should drones continue to be used by the military?
I am leaning towards either the music store or the military use of drones. I am fimilar with both. I am having a hard time deciding which I would like to do. However, I think the drones in America is important issue and I would like to look into that.
