Chapter 7: in The Call to write is great to show how to create a profile and use pictures with captions and examples to help depict what your profile is over. The chapter provides a great example of how pictures can really help an article connect with the reader. The phrase " a picture is worth a thousand words" is quite relevant in profiles. You can explain and describe something but the best way to help the viewer visualize it is adding an example they can see and the caption supports the picture to make sure you know exactly what you are looking at and why. The article "Cancer Alley" (photographs/Richard Misrach, Essay/ Jason Berry) did a great job at using pictures with captions to get the point across. The picture of the Holy Rosary Cemetery and Union Carbide Complex really hits home and drives the point across through symbolism of the Cemetery and Carbide complex together.
On www.BBC.com I found the article "
Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian 'faces Iran spy trial'" . This is a profile about a Washington post informant Jason Rezaian whom is facing charges for "collaborating with hostile governments" and "propaganda" . The US has been pushing Iran to release Jason Rezaian saying the the charges were absurd. There is still no trial day set which means Jason will continue to be in an Iran prison for a charge which he is innocent of. Iran claims that he released information to a hostile government which "threatens" their country.
